What we do

We provide chemistry services and are capable of supplying products from gram to multi kilo scale involving complex and multi-step synthesis. We supply to biotech and pharma customers to accelerate early-stage drug discovery and pre-clinical to clinical research programs. We also supply advanced intermediates and API’s going for toxic studies enabling IND filing.

We conduct process R&D, technology transfer and manufacture of key starting materials, advanced intermediates for APIs going to clinical studies. We have partnered with WHO GMP and ISO 9001-2008 facilities located in India.

In addition, we develop novel synthetic methodologies and synthesize deuterium labelled drug standards, intermediates and metabolites and supply to leading pharmaceutical companies all over the world. We also develop and manufacture Semio chemicals for crop protection including specialty chemicals for photography applications.

Custom Synthesis

We offer custom synthesis and manufacturing services for biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life science and chemical research related industries. We can also exercise an existing synthesis or design a new synthesis when there is no developed chemical route of synthesis.

Process Research

We can undertake projects for process research, scale up and technology commercialization for pharmaceutical intermediates, APIs for preclinical and clinical drug candidates.

We also conduct process R&D and develop technology for manufacture of deuterated intermediates and APIs for clinical studies and commercial launch.

News

2025

We hired two R&D Trainees in partnership with Technology Alberta through the First Jobs Tech BOOST program-200 hrs. The trainees are engaged in ongoing research focussed on developing a novel deuteration technology.

We hosted Ritu Banerjee - Assistant Deputy Minister, Office of Life Sciences and Biomanufacturing Readiness at ISED Canada. ISED works with Canadians in all parts of the country to improve conditions for investment, enhance Canada's innovation performance and increase Canada's share of global trade, and build a fair, efficient and competitive marketplace.
2024

We developed a novel synthetic route and supplied an anti-cancer drug candidate to a Canadian customer, Lab and Farm Capital, to support their research project aimed at toxicology studies.

We designed a novel route of synthesis and supplied a drug candidate for anti-inflammatory studies to Edmonton based -small biotech company. This project was funded by EDMONTON UNLIMITED.

2023

In November 2023, we hired two R&D Trainees (pharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing) in SV ChembioTech in partnership with Technology Alberta through the 'First Jobs, Work Integrated Learning (WIL)' program.

FIRST Jobs (First Industrial Research, Science, or Technology) is a Job placement partnership program between Alberta companies and Technology Alberta, with support from the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada.
2021

Developed efficient, cost-effective syntheses and scale up of lead drug candidates and delivered to large pharma customer, AstraZeneca, EMD Serono, USA.

Developed an efficient scale up synthesis of L-2-Aminooxy-3-Phenylpropionic Acid and delivered to our customer University of Florida.

Developed an efficient scale up synthesis of a chiral auxiliary compound and delivered to large pharma customer, Eli Lilly, USA.

SV Chem received "MITACS Accelerate Industrial Joint Postdoc" to support research, technology commercialization of complex pheromone products for supplying to a prestigious customer in California. For this project, we have signed a research collaboration with a chemistry professor from University of Alberta, Edmonton.
2020

We received Industry R&D Associates Program Grant from Alberta Innovates, Canada to develop advanced chlorination technology for optimizing existing manufacturing process for one of our commercial products, CRS pheromone.
2019

Awarded with NRC Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), by National Research Council Canada for developing an efficient, cost-effective “Oxidation technology” to use in the manufacturing of an API intermediate. The API is used for treating Parkinson’s disease, hyperprolactinemic disorders.

Awarded with NSERC Engage / Alberta Innovates CASBE Grant to conduct research on "High-throughput microfluidic technology" for developing small 3D tissues to identify new therapeutic pathways for cancer therapy in collaboration with University of Calgary.
2018

Developed novel synthesis and delivered complex library compounds to EMD Serono.

Developed synthesis of a complex chiral beta-amino acid, delivered to Merck KGaA.

Developed and delivered complex med-chem screening compounds to Biogen.

Developed and delivered novel synthetic routes for various deuterium drug standards and metabolites to clients.

Developed a novel route for synthesis of a green house pheromone(SMID: ascr#18, active on organism C. elegans) and delivered to a customer in California, USA for field trials.

Participated in CPhi Worldwide 2018 held in Madrid, attended an introductory session organized by the Canadian Ambassador to Spain

Our President has been invited to speak in the 102nd Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition in June 2019 in Quebec, Canada, organized by the Canadian Society for Chemistry.
2017

Participated in Bio International Convention 2017 held in San Diego, USA.

Developed an efficient synthesis for a key intermediate of a preclinical API and delivered to a customer in USA. We received appreciation from the customer for successful execution of synthesis and timely delivery. Customer placed with us another order for a 2 nd campaign of the same intermediate.

Developed a manufacturing process and delivered in multiple kilos of California red scale Pheromone (CRS pheromone) to a customer in Canada. CRS pheromone is used for control of California red scale pest on citrus trees.
2016

Received NSERC Engage Plus award from NSERC Canada to conduct research on “Efficient Chemical Synthesis of Deuterated Pharmaceutical Standards and Metabolites” in collaboration with University of Alberta.

Initiated and completed a multi-kilo project for a US customer for developing and manufacturing of an advanced intermediate for a clinical API used in treating HIV infection and AIDS.
2015

Participated in a collaborative research project "Copper-Mediated Carbon-Carbon Bond Formation Reactions with Heterocyclic Compounds" with University of Alberta supported by “NSERC Engage” from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
2014

Developed a novel manufacturing process of an advanced intermediate for a clinical API used in treating Friedreich’s ataxia. Supplied multi kilos quantities to a customer in USA.

Developed a multi-step novel synthesis for an advanced intermediate of a generic API used for treating Parkinson's disease. Supplied in kilo quantities to a customer in Brazil.
2013-2016

Developed novel synthetic routes and delivered several complex “New Chemical Entities” to Thermofisher Scientific's customer Sanofi for drug discovery programs.
2012-2013

Entered into a collaboration with Indian manufacturing facility for research and developing a new technology for an advanced intermediate for a pre-clinical drug used in treating “Friedreich’s ataxia”, rare inherited disease that causes nervous system damage.
2011-2012

Participated in a collaboration with Albany Molecular Research (USA) to develop and deliver various complex “New Chemical Entities” for pre-clinical research. Received an appreciation from the customer.
